Japan Long Course Nationals - Day 2

Kosuke Kitajima missed his own world record in the 100 breast. He was well ahead of his record pace with 28.25 at the 50, but he lacked a strong finish and slowed down on the last 10 meters. His existing record is 59.78 (28.61 split)

Tomomi Morita bettered the old record of 54.54 by Atsushi Nishikori from 2003 with 54.40 in the men's 100 backstroke.

Junko Onishi set a new national record in the women's 100 butterfly with 58.62. She will be the first Japanese woman who swims in the Olympics at the age of 29.
