Thailand's own Torlarp Sethsothorn surprised many yesterday when he won the 400m freestyle event in a Games record time of 3:53.61.

Sethsothorn held off second place finisher Masato Hiranowho finished in a time of 3:54.13, third place was won by Kwok Kin-Ming HKG 4:00:44.
