World Cup Sites for US Announced

Dec 18, 1998

Washington D.C. and Long Island, N.Y., will be the site of FINA World Cup meets over the next three years, USA Swimming announced today.

The first-ever World Cup meet held in the U.S. took place in College Station, Texas, earlier this December and included numerous Olympic and World Champions. Two world and seven American records were set in the two-day affair.

The meets are scheduled for College Park, Md., for two years and Uniondale, N.Y. in 2001. The 1999 and 2000 meets will be held at a new pool on the University of Maryland while the meet in Uniondale will be held at the Nassau County Aquatic Center, home of last summer's Goodwill Games.
