COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's swimming and diving team turned in a dominant performance by winning the first 10 events over Georgia Tech to cruise to an easy 153-74 victory over the Yellow Jackets Friday evening at the Campus Recreation Center Natatorium. The Maryland men's team was not as fortunate, falling by a score of 126-111 to Tech.

The women steamrolled their way to an easy victory behind the efforts of sophomore Linneah Riedlinger (Greenbelt, Md.). Riedlinger won three events on the day in the 1000-free (10:18.85), 200-free (1:55.29) and the 500-free (5:04.49).

Freshman Elizabeth Lavell (Annapolis, Md.) also won multiple events for the women, finishing first in both the 200-fly (2:04.00) and the 200 IM (2:06.08). Other winners for the Terps included freshman Cynthia Weir (Irwin, Pa.) in the 50-free (24.22); senior diver Ashleye Henyan (Corning, N.Y.) on the 3-meter board (226.65); senior Kelly Bowman (Hauppauge, N.Y.) in the 100-free (52.41); freshman Jamie Trapp (Portland, Ore.) in the 200-back (2:07.91); and freshman diver Rebecca Rudolph (Marietta, Ga.) on the 1-meter board (210.96.).

The men's team could not pull out a close one with Tech, falling by just 15 points to the Yellow Jackets. Several Terps turned in winning performances led by junior Brian Luoma (New Castle, Del.).

Luoma was the only Terp to win two individual events, finishing first in the 50-free (21.44) and the 100-free (46.65). Other first-place finishers for the men included junior Gordon Hazzard (Darnestown, Md.) in the 200-free (1:42.94); senior Thomas Ehrhardt (Aschaffenburg, Bavaria, Germany) in the 200-fly (1:52.47) and sophomore diver Steven Vigilante on the 1-meter board (267.45).

The loss dropped the Terrapin men to 3-5 overall on the year and 1-3 in the ACC. The Terrapin women improved to an impressive 7-1 on the season and 3-1 in conference action.
