SEATTLE - Washington junior Kim Harada (San Lorenzo, Calif.) claimed the Huskies' lone event title in day two of the Continental Airlines Classic, winning the 200 backstroke in 2:07.30, Saturday at Rice University in Houston, Texas. Although not represented in the win column, the UW women's squad produced solid results in the two-day meet, competing against four top-25 teams in No. 7 California, No. 10 Penn State, No. 12 Virginia and No. 22 Rice, along with Missouri.

"It was a great team weekend," UW head coach Mickey Wender said. "We were awesome, especially on Friday, stepping up and competing versus top 25 opponents and holding our own. I am very proud and pleased on where we are so far this season."

In addition to her first-place finish in the 200 backstroke, Harada also claimed a third place in the 100 back (58.28), leading the UW to a 3-4-5-7 finish in the event. Sophomore Lisa Fanning (Bellevue, Wash.) posted her best finish of the competition Saturday, taking second in the 50 free style in 24.57, behind California All-American Danielle Becks (24.08).

Three other UW swimmers each logged third-place finishes including freshman Hannah Jo (Federal Way, Wash.) in the 200 backstroke (2:09.08), freshman Annette Vayo (Placentia, Calif.) in the 100 freestyle (53.65) and sophomore Brittany Reichardt (Gardnerville, Nev.) in the 200 breaststroke (2:27.06).
