UMass Women's Swimming Downs BU, 161-139

AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts women's swimming and diving team made its home debut with a 161-139 win over visiting Boston University this afternoon at Joseph R. Rogers Jr. Pool.

Senior Andrea Kazanjian (Troy, N.Y.) led the Minutewomen with two individual victories, winning the 50-yard free (25.09) and 100-yard free (54.62). Other UMass winners included senior Becky Hunnewell (Sandwich, Mass.) in the 200-yard breast (2:10.70), junior Kate Allery (South Hadley, Mass.) in the one-meter dive (236.32) and sophomore Lauren Rowell (Hamburg, N.Y.) in the 100-yard breast (1:01.70).

The Minutewomen won both relay events including the 200-yard medley relay (Rowell, Christen Dexter (Centerville, Mass.), Kazanjian, and Lizzy Boyle (Darien, Conn.),1.50.91) and 400-yard free relay (Hunnewell, Boyle, Molly Buckley (Taunton, Mass.) and Anne Dettloff, 3:41.41).

Boston University was led by junior Karissa Lopez with three individual victories in the 200-yard fly (2:06.67), 100-yard fly (58.69) and 200-yard IM (2:10.89). Other multiple winners for BU included junior Ingrid Salazar and Laurie Green. Salazar won the 1,000-yard free (10:46.29) and 500-yard free (5:14.79) while Green won the 100-yard breast (1:07.79) and 200-yard breast (2:25.09).
