SMU Falls to Georgia 179-119

The No. 7 SMU women's swimming & diving team fell to No. 5 ranked Georgia, 179-119, Saturday afternoon in Athens, Ga.

The Mustangs dropped their third dual meet of the season, despite two first place showings for both Alenka Kejzar and Flavia Rigamonti.

Rigamonti destroyed the competition in the 1,650 free, winning by nearly 30 seconds ahead of the runner-up finisher with a time of 16:17.07. Kejzar followed three events later with a time of 55.67 in the 100 back finishing first ahead of Georgia's Neka Mabry.

Sophomore Anu Koivisto joined the winner's circle in race 10, as the Finland native touched in with a time of 2:02.56. Rigamonti recorded her second first place showing in the 500 free, touching in with a time of 4:51.68.

Kejzar repeated the feat in the day's second to last event, touching first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:15.76.

Freshman diver Elizabeth Pike had her best showing of the season winning the three-meter competition with a score of 283.50, while finishing runner-up in the one-meter competition.

On the afternoon, SMU had seven runner-up finishes, highlighted by 2001 WAC Freshman of the Year Georgina Lee, who finished second in two events.

With the loss, SMU falls to 1-3 on the night and will next be in action Jan. 23 when they host arch-rival TCU at 7:00 p.m.
