Purdue Defeats Toronto and Pinecrest in Florida

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Purdue women's swimming team defeated both its Christmas training trip opponents in the Pinecrest Invitational on Thursday night. The Boilermakers beat the University of Toronto 179-64 and Pinecrest 171-72.

"We've had a good training trip," said Purdue head coach Cathy Wright-Eger . "We had a lot of different first-place finishers last night, and that's great for our team. We'll continue training today and we're excited to return home and get back to the regular competition season."

The Boilermakers were led by junior Lisa Dolansky with four first-place finishes. Dolansky led both the 400 medley and the 400 free relays to firsts, while also gathering individual firsts in the 100 and 200 backstroke. With Dolansky on the 400 medley relay were juniors Lindsay Lange, Patricia Finnerty and Kim Paradeise. On the 400 free relay, Paradeise, junior Jenni Bean and freshman Katie Seleskie joined Dolansky.

Also with two individual firsts was sophomore Autumn Sample in the 100 and 200 butterfly.

Seniors Kelly Mackus and Ronica Rogalski earned top finishes in the 500 free and the 200 breaststroke, while Bean finished first in the 200 individual medley. Freshman Tracy Duchac added a first for the Boilermakers in the 50 free.
