Wallace Joins List Of Fall Signees and Commits to Georgia

Dec 4, 2001

ATHENS, Ga. ? The Georgia Lady Bulldogs added one of the top freestyle and backstroke swimmers during the early signing period as Pennsylvania native Jordan Wallace signed a national letter of intent to study and compete at the University of Georgia as announced by head coach Jack Bauerle.

Wallace, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., was a 12-time high school All-American and was named the Pennsylvania State High School AA Swimming Championships Swimmer of the Meet in 2001. She holds the state record in the 100-yard backstroke and is an eight-time gold medallist at the Pennsylvania State High School Championships. Wallace, who won the 50-meter freestyle and the 100-meter backstroke at the Eastern Sectionals, was a 2000 Olympic Trials qualifier in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events and was a consolation finalist in the 100-backstroke. Wallace is currently a senior at Oakland County High School and swims for Team Pittsburgh Aquatics.

"Jordan is a great kid and a great swimmer," Bauerle said. "She is a very versatile swimmer at a high level. Jordan is also a terrific student, and I am certainly excited about coaching her for the next four years. We have heard nothing but great things about her work ethic, and she will be a very important part of our success next year, both individually and on our relays. She has been a force in Pennsylvania swimming ever since her freshman year, and she will continue our tradition of excellent swimmers from that area, including Kristy Kowal and Steph Williams."

Wallace was awarded the Certificate of Achievement from the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh at the Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair. As member of the Junior Academy of Science, Wallace finished first at regionals and placed second at the state competition.
