Two Terrapins Garner ACC Swimmer Of The Week Honors

Nov 20, 2001

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland's Elizabeth Lavell and North Carolina's Jessi Perruquet were named ACC Women's Co-Swimmers of the Week while Thomas Ehrhardt was named ACC Men's Swimmer of the Week.

Lavell, a freshman from Annapolis, Md., had a record setting performance at the Terrapin Cup Invitational. She set three school records en route to winning three events and swam the anchor leg on the winning 800-free relay. Lavell won the 400 IM (4:19.12), 200 IM (2:02.08) and the 1650 freestyle (16:23.56). Her 1650 freestyle time is tops in the ACC this season, while her 400 and 200 IM times are second best. In just her first semester as a Terrapin, she owns four school records.

Perruquet, a sophomore from Danville, Pa., won three events for North Carolina at the Nike Cup. She won those events with ACC-best times in the 50-freestyle (23.37), 100-freestyle (49.96) and 200-freestyle (1:46.24). Perruquet established career-bests in the 50 and 200 freestyles and broke the UNC record in the 200 free that was set in 1995 by Kari Haagat at 1:46.28.

Ehrhardt, a senior from Aschaffenburg, Germany, led Maryland to the men's team title at the Terrapin Cup Invitational. He set ACC-best times in winning the 100 butterfly (49.37) and 200 butterfly (1:48.22) while setting a new school record in the 200 butterfly. Ehrhardt also swam on the winning 400-free relay, 200 medley relay, 200-free relay and 400 medley relay.
