Iowa State Women Improve To 4-3 In Dual Competition

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Iowa State women's swimming and diving team defeated Florida Atlantic University in dual competition, 78-55 Saturday evening to improve its overall record to 4-3. The Cyclones were led by freshman Carmella Nogar, who recorded two first-place finishes in the 300 IM (3:21.17) and the 150 backstroke (1:36.34).

Freshman Rena Kelinson and sophomore Amber McDowell also fared well for ISU, winning their respective events. Kelinson won the 150 freestyle in a time of 1:26.41, while McDowell took the 150 butterfly in a time of 1:32.51.

Also notching first-place finishes for the Cyclones were Becca Meyer in the 50 butterfly (:27.34), Marie Tremblay in the 50 breaststroke (:31.95), Carmella Nogar in the 300 individual medley (3:21.17) and Kelly Yates in the 300 freestyle (3:01.53).

The Cyclones next travel to Nebraska Jan. 22 in a dual meet at 1 p.m.
