The University of Miami is being forced to cancel its mens swimming program in order to comply with Title IX gender-equity laws. To balance its program the school will start a women's volleyball program in the next two years.

The Men's swimming program at Miami has had a proud history having produced 20 NCAA champions and 15 Olympians. Its most noted Alumnis, was diving great Greg Louganis who was a two-time diving Olympic gold medalist.

The change in policy at the school was brought about by an increase in the female undergrad population at the school which has increased over the years from 45 to 54 percent.
