Jul 24, 2000

Inge de Bruijn (NED) bettered one World and three US Opean records competing this past weekend in the Region XII Championships and the Weyerhauser/King Aquatic Centre, Federal Way, WA.

On July 20 she swam 54.01 for the 100 freestyle, on July 22 she bettered her own world record in the 100 fly with 56.64 (her old mark was 56.69) and on July 23 she swam 24.50 for 50 freestyle.

Coach Paul Bergen, Tualatin Hills Swim Club, with whom de Bruijn has been training for the past two and-a-half years, said "This proves her Sheffield swims weren't flukes. We had her drug tested immediately after the swim to silence the neighsayers."
