Olympic Village Opens In Sydney

The Olympic Village for Athletes in Sydney was officially opened this weekend and athletes wasted no time in moving in.

The village which is expected to house some 10,000 athletes was officially opend by Edie Payne, Australia's oldest living Olympian and the first woman to compete in Track and Field for Australia in 1928 in Amsterdam.

The athletes village has the distinction of being the largest solar powered suburb on earth. The rooms themselves are solar heated and some of the power in the facility will be supplied by the network of 6,000 solar panels.
