Utah Women's Swimming Recap

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - The Utes made their first appearance of the season at the Colorado State Early Bird Invitational. At the invitational, the Utes faced eleven teams, including three other conference teams.

Team Scores- On the women's side, Utah captured the fourth place position with a final score of 480.50. The host team, Colorado State, swam to a first place position with a final score of 875.50, to be followed by Fresno State and Wyoming. For the men, the Air Force Falcons excelled with a final score of 1,078.50 and a first place finish. Utah made a statement with a final score of 692.50 and a third place finish, preceded by second place Wyoming.

Ute Women- Freshman Kristen Kaiser proved that she is going to be a force to reckon with this season. Kaiser took top honors in the 400 IM and 1650 free, to be joined by a second place finish in the 500 free. Team captain Erin Blundell had a second place finish in the 200 free and third in the 200 fly.

Ute Men- Sophomore David Fleisch won the 200 IM, placed third in the 400 IM, and fifth in the 200 back. Diver Sterling Richards flipped to a second place finish in the one and three-meter competitions. Stephen Linge grabbed a second place finish in the 100 fly and third finish in the 200 IM.
